Does this sound like you?

  • Cigarettes cost you a fortune, and you still buy them
  • There is almost nowhere left you're allowed to smoke, and you still find a way
  • Part of you wants to quit, and part of you wants the next cigarette
  • You reach for one when you're stressed, bored or uncomfortable
  • A lot of it is pure habit: the same times, the same places, every day

If that is you, keep reading.

Why is it so hard to stop?

Right now you have two competing feelings about smoking. One wants to smoke. The other wants to quit.

At the moment, the feeling for smoking is the stronger of the two. It may only be slightly stronger, but the stronger feeling always decides what you do.

To stop, your mind needs new information that changes what smoking means to you. When quitting means more to you than smoking does, not smoking becomes the stronger feeling, and not smoking becomes what you do.

The two reasons you smoke

Habit. You do it because that's what you do, at the times you always do it.

Coping. Smoking helps you deal with stress, discomfort or boredom. Your brain sees it as a solution to problems.

The program is built to deal with both.

How the stop smoking program works

Three parts: a video, one main session, and a follow-up session.

1. A 20-minute video, before we meet

I send you a video to watch at home. It covers things about smoking you half know but have never heard explained this way, and some things you most likely never knew at all.

Its job is to make you curious. Curiosity is one of the most effective ways of getting new information into the brain.

2. One main session, 60 minutes

We focus on changing how you feel about smoking.

Using hypnosis, we bring more information into your mind so that the feeling for quitting becomes much stronger than the feeling for smoking. When that happens, not smoking is what you do afterwards.

3. A follow-up session, any time within 12 months

If you are struggling in any way after the main session, whether that is days, weeks or months later, come straight back. Do that even if you haven't smoked.

We find out what you're struggling with and help your mind create a new solution that doesn't involve smoking.

Why the follow-up matters

Breaking the habit doesn't remove the stresses that smoking used to help you with. They will still come up. Coming back early, as soon as you notice you're struggling, is the best way to make sure you don't just stop smoking but stay off cigarettes long term, because your mind has learned a new way to cope.

What clients say

“I smoked forty a day for over twenty years and I haven't touched a cigarette for a year this September. When I'm with friends who smoke it doesn't bother me. It's like I never smoked before. It's just not relevant to me anymore.”

– M.Mc.

“We both came to see you last May in a bid to start the summer getting healthier and fitter. We were buying 10 packs a week between us. We're just back from a week in the south of France, largely financed by the money that we saved from not smoking. Best deal we ever made!”

– Cath & Dave, Ennis, Co. Clare

Questions people ask

Is it really just one session?

The program is built around one main 60-minute session. You watch a 20-minute video beforehand, and a follow-up session is included for any time in the following 12 months, if you need it.

What is the follow-up session for?

It is there for any point where you are struggling after the main session. Smoking was your way of coping with stress, discomfort or boredom, and those things will still come up. In the follow-up we find out what you're struggling with and help your mind find a new solution that doesn't involve smoking.

Should I come back even if I haven't smoked?

Yes. If you are struggling in any way, come straight back, even if you haven't had a cigarette. Dealing with it early is the best way to stay off cigarettes long term.

Will I be in control during hypnosis?

Yes. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, a bit like being absorbed in a film. You hear everything, you remember it, and you can stop at any point.

Can I do this online?

Yes. Online and in-person sessions work the same way. I'll send you simple instructions for setting up at home.
