Weight Loss: Help with Hypnosis

You've tried to lose weight. Either it won't come off, or it won't stay off.

Whichever it is for you, the real problem is usually the same: control around food.

This page explains why, and how I can help you get that control.

“I never ever thought I'd not want it. Ever. I should have done this years ago.”
– Jane, on sugar and chocolate

Clem Kelleher, Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychologist (MSc Psychology). In person in Limerick, or online anywhere in Ireland.

Does this sound like you?

  • You've tried diet after diet, and the weight either won't shift or won't stay off
  • You're getting more and more frustrated with yourself around food
  • You can be “good” for days, then suddenly overeat, binge or snack
  • You feel out of control around chocolate, sugar or certain foods
  • You can't imagine giving up your favourite foods without feeling deprived
  • You've tried everything else and want a simpler way to change how you eat

If two or three of those are familiar, keep reading.

Why is losing weight so hard?

Some people have never managed to get the weight off. Others have lost it, sometimes more than once, and watched it come back. Either way, the usual answer is another diet.

Diets work for as long as you can keep them up. They depend on willpower and on going without, and nobody can keep that going for good.

The real problem is control. When you have real control around food, losing weight gets easier, keeping it off gets easier, and the constant battle with food starts to fade.

How I help

I don't put you on a diet.

Using hypnosis together with the psychological tools I bring as a psychologist, we change how your mind sees food and how you behave around it. Hypnosis here means a focused, relaxed state. You're awake, you hear everything, and you're in control throughout.

The aim is that you feel full on less food, and that you no longer want the chocolate or the junk in the way you do now. You aren't depriving yourself, because the wanting has changed. That is what makes it last.

What clients say

“Update is that I still haven't touched chocolate. 4 months now and it's just like you told me, that I just don't want any more … I've lost 1.5 stone but weight isn't an important thing in my life anymore. I have so much energy, I feel great and I walk nearly every day … Best thing to ever happen to me.”

– Mary in Tipperary

“Half a stone in 4 weeks and it doesn't feel like I'm doing anything that I don't want to do. I haven't touched anything sweet and my portion sizes have got a lot smaller. Everything feels so easy and I have stopped fighting with myself.”

– Jennifer

Individual results vary.

Two ways to achieve what you want

Face-to-face sessions

The Eating Control Program, €100 per session

  • A 60-minute session with me, in person or online
  • Two preparation videos to watch beforehand
  • A recording of your session to listen to afterwards
  • Pay per session, with no upfront commitment

Each session is a reset:

Session 1 · Reset 1. Changes how you see food, and how you see yourself, from the very first session.
Session 2 · Reset 2. Builds on the first, so the new way of eating starts to feel normal instead of an effort.
Session 3 · Reset 3. Keeps you steady around other people: family, friends, and the “just have one” at every party.

Start with one session. If you feel the difference, I'd encourage you to do all three, ideally within three weeks.

Questions people ask

Is this a diet?

No. There is no meal plan and no calorie counting. The work is on how your mind sees food and how you behave around it, so that eating less stops being a fight.

Do I have to give up my favourite foods?

Nothing is banned. The aim is that you stop wanting the chocolate or the junk in the way you do now, so there is nothing to resist and you don't feel deprived.

Which option is right for me?

Choose face-to-face sessions if you prefer to meet, either in person or online, one session at a time. Choose the online program if you want to work to your own daily routine over twelve weeks and achieve sustainable, long-term change. The comparison page sets the two out side by side.

Will I be in control during hypnosis?

Yes. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention, a bit like being absorbed in a film. You hear everything, you remember it, and you can stop at any point.

Can I do this online?

Yes. Face-to-face sessions can be in person or online, and the Comfort Eating Solution is fully online.

Do I need to see my GP first?

You don't need a referral. If you have a medical condition or take medication that affects your weight or appetite, keep your GP involved.
